· Take selfies against a 160th year giant #LoveTheTube backdrop
· Return Tickets available from Acton Town Tube station on the Piccadilly line via Heathrow
Join the Tube’s 160th birthday celebrations with a ride on one of London Transport Museum’s ‘Tube 160 Birthday Special’ heritage journeys. The world’s first underground railway opened in 1863 in London, since then the Tube has grown to become an iconic part of life in the capital for residents and visitors. On the weekend of Saturday 10 June and Sunday 11 June the public will have the opportunity to be transported to a bygone era of train travel with journeys on a pristine Art Deco-style 1938 vintage Tube train. The vehicle was one of the capital’s longest serving Tube trains and is a relic of London’s transport past.
Nessie story resurfaces after 90 years
The wait is finally over for global tourists to the Highlands and Monster spotters, as the newly imagined Loch Ness Centre in Drumnadrochit near Inverness will officially open its doors on Saturday 10th June.
The Loch Ness Centre, located at one of Scotland’s most famous tourist destinations, is nearing completion following a major refurbishment by Continuum Attractions, following its take over earlier this year. £1.5m has been invested in a full upgrade to enhance the visitor experience, allowing people to explore the legend and myths of Loch Ness through immersive tours and also via trips aboard the attraction’s famous research vessel, Deepscan.
Tourism and hospitality businesses have been taking advantage of specialist training to help them to succeed in the group travel market.
This month, Visit County Durham delivered an interactive group travel course, providing businesses with top tips and inspiration on how to stand out in this highly competitive market.
Durham is a popular destination for group travel, with a great selection of group-friendly attractions and accommodation, along with a dramatic coastline, historic city and stunning countryside.
Durham City’s group travel offer is now even better thanks to the introduction of a new coach drop-off and pick-up point.
From this month, coach parties visiting the historic city will alight on the other side of the River Wear on Framwelgate Waterside instead of the former drop off point at Freeman’s Place.
Durham County Council has carried out the work and its tourism service, Visit County Durham, is now promoting the new location to coach operators, highlighting the vastly improved arrival experience it affords both visitors and drivers.
