The Northern Region brings together Group Travel Organisers and Partners from across a wide and vibrant area, stretching from Cheshire and North Derbyshire through Yorkshire, the northern counties, and into Scotland.

We hold our meetings in different locations across the region, giving members valuable opportunities to connect, share knowledge, discover new ideas, and strengthen their group travel networks. From time to time, we may also arrange meetings in other parts of the country where there is a clear benefit for members. Details of forthcoming meetings and events will be posted on this page and on the AGTO calendar.

Upcoming dates will be announced soon.

New members and partners are always warmly welcomed. If you know any Group Travel Organisers in our region who are not yet members, please encourage them to find out more about AGTO and invite them to join us. Many of our members are highly active within their own groups, so we work hard to plan events at least a year in advance, helping everyone secure the dates in their diaries and make the most of every opportunity to participate.

Stay connected and keep up to date by joining the AGTO Facebook page and private group pages here.

British Music Experience in Liverpool

The day started with coffee & biscuits whilst we did the ‘Guess the Stars’ Quiz from images around the café. Then with our personal tour guide visited exhibitions  which lasted approx. 1.5 hours. Our guide was outstanding with her knowledge and the ‘insider’ titbits she imparted were just brilliant and brought the whole exhibitions alive.

After the tour, we had free time to re-visit the galleries and interactive zones, audio visual experiences and to watch the hologram performances.  Followed by a hands-on experience in the Interactive Studio to have a go on how to play a guitar, drums or the keyboards and to dance our way through the eras in the ‘Dance the Decades’ studio, some of us even tried to get our voices studio-ready in the Vocal Booth!

As the UK’s only museum dedicated to celebrating British music, the British Music Experience boasts an unrivalled collection of memorabilia, stage outfits, instruments, images and footage, bringing the decades of our musical history alive.  The museum charts the beginnings, rise and influence of British pop from 1945 to the present day and includes outfits worn by artists from Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury and Dusty Springfield, to Adam Ant and The Spice Girls and musical instruments played by some of the world’s most renowned artists from Queen’s Roger Taylor and Marc Bolan, to Ian Curtis and the Sex Pistols.

A truly great visit and so worthwhile!!

Gauntlets Birds of Prey, Knutsford, Cheshire

Established in 1996, the park is a family-run venture and is home to over 180 birds from 50 different species and has the largest collection of birds in the North-West. Their main goal is to raise awareness of birds of prey, how they live, hunt and feed.

At Gauntlet we met a wide range of birds from EaglesHawks and Falcons to Vultures, Kites and Owls. The park is also home to more unusual species like Caracaras, Seriemas, Storks and Pelicans.

The day started off for 34 of our members with time to wander around and familiarise ourselves. We then we were treated to an awesome ‘Owl & Friends’ flying display, with an informative talk on the breed and their habitats. A really fresh ‘Afternoon tea’ style picnic with copious amounts of tea and coffee was taken in their cafe followed by a truly spectacular flying display with Falcons, Storks, Kites & Vultures above our heads, joined by a kooky Secretary bird (she really was the boss of the whole park!). More personal time afterwards was allocated to walk around and visit the rest of the park. The passion, love and care for these birds truly come through from all of the staff, their well-being is their top priority. Such an incredible and informative day, even the weather played nicely for us, although when we booked we were assured that the flying displays would still take place as they also have a large barn in case of inclement weather.
