What makes Strawberry Field an unmissable visit?
“It’s simply the best new attraction I have seen for around a decade” Sales Director of a UK DMC
A one of a kind, authentic experience
Strawberry Field today, is an award-winning, fully accessible heritage attraction, with interactive exhibition, peaceful gardens and the Imagine More cafe. But before that, it was the Salvation Army Children’s home which captured the heart of John Lennon as a boy and inspired the legendary Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever.
In the peaceful gardens of Strawberry Field, so dear to John, your visitors have the unique chance to see the original iconic red gates, loved by Beatles fans and the uniquely designed bandstand, a homage to John’s early love of Salvation Army bands performing in the garden and to The Beatles iconic Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album front cover. Visitors can follow John’s footsteps in the garden, taking in the historic trees of his childhood, the natural stone seats from the original grounds and re-connect with nature. Each season brings its own distinct beauty to the gardens, allowing guests to breath and engage with their well-being any time of the year. Also there a 22ft Ukrainian Peace Monument which has a temporary place in the garden until it is safe to move it to its home in Ukraine. New Rose Garden Memorial to legendary Beatles’ Producer, Sir George Martin and his wife Lady Judy, who was one of our Patrons, opens late Spring 2026.
In the exhibition, visitors discover the history of The Salvation Army and its children’s home at Strawberry Field, John Lennon’s childhood and the writing and recording of the famous song, as told by John’s close friends and family. Centre piece: one of the most treasured pianos in the world, upon which John Lennon wrote and composed the global peace anthem Imagine. Later George Michael who bought this piano in 2000 would go on to compose and record the title song for his album Patience. The piano is on long loan from George’s Estate.
Exhibition Rates fully commissionable. Flexible booking. Carers/ tour leaders/ guides go free. Free hot drink for the driver.
The audio guide (languages English, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Mandarin) is included and now also offers a One Touch option for ease of use. As an added extra to this – a unique garden tour using soundscapes to offer your visitors a chance to explore mindfulness and reconnect with nature.

Coach Parking advice: Local coach parking is available. Visitors can be dropped off via a lay-by at the gate, however, coaches must park elsewhere. We recommend driving down Beaconsfield Road, turning left at the traffic lights and continuing down Menlove Avenue past the residential area, 400 yards on the left. Strawberry Field is part of Liverpool’s Coach Welcome Scheme.
