Old Royal Naval College launches Greenwich itineraries in partnership with AC Group

The Old Royal Naval College, part of Greenwich’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, has today launched a number of packages for group travel organisers and the travel trade in collaboration with AC Group and local tourism partners, including Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, The DoubleTree by Hilton London Greenwich and the O2.

The itineraries, which are bookable via AC Group, offer potential group and travel trade customers the chance to explore Greenwich, with multiple themes and lengths of stay available.

The itineraries allow visitors to explore the wider Greenwich area, and all boast an experience to suit every taste and family member, from afternoon tea and evening jazz to pub lunches and outlet shopping, all with comfy places to stay just steps away. For those looking for somewhere to stay, The DoubleTree by Hilton London Greenwich and the Clarendon Greenwich are both highlighted.

Visitors could spend a weekend exploring Greenwich’s famed TV and film locations including those featured in The Crown, Poldark, Thor, Bridgerton, and most recently Cruella. Or, if history is more their thing, they can explore some of the UK’s most beautiful historic buildings including the Sir Christopher Wren-designed Old Royal Naval College and Royal Observatory, in between visits to Greenwich’s many boutiques and coffee shops or dancing between the stalls at Greenwich Market, chock-full of handicrafts. Whilst anyone feeling adventurous can climb the O2 and see Greenwich from above with Up at the O2.
The Old Royal Naval College, “the most popular filming location in the world” according to Empire Magazine, and home to Britain’s Sistine Chapel, the Painted Hall, lies at the centre of each Greenwich itinerary.

Kate Miners, Head of Visitor Experience and Commercial at the Old Royal Naval College said: “We are excited to welcome day-trippers and tourists back to Greenwich to enjoy all of the history, architecture, and beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces we have to offer. We hope that our itineraries make it easy for everyone to plan their visit and find the must-sees and the hidden gems that will make their time in Greenwich something to remember, whether it is a few hours or a few days. We can’t wait to welcome you back and hope to see you soon.”

The aim of the itineraries is to make Greenwich more accessible than ever before for domestic and international tourists. Working with AC Group ensures anyone who makes a booking will receive expert service and care from their knowledgeable team who know Greenwich like the back of their hands. At the same time, the itineraries exist to encourage collaboration between local partners in the destination of Greenwich.

Rob Russell, CEO of AC Group said:
“Having been born and grown up in Greenwich and Blackheath it has been amazing to see the changes in the area over the years. It’s an area that has so much to offer, and I love sending people to explore the area and hear the stories of everything that they have uncovered from the amazing pubs, restaurants, markets, it is an amazing place that has plenty to keep you occupied for the whole weekend.”

Visitors are encouraged to travel sustainably and arrive by river, which coincidentally offers the best views of the Old Royal Naval College, with Greenwich Pier just two minutes’ walk away from the site and easy connections with both Central London and North Greenwich offered by Uber Boat by Thames Clippers making it a breeze to head into Central London to see a West End Show or stay local and take in a concert or enjoy Mamma Mia! The Party at the O2.

Barrie Kelly, Chief Executive of Visit Greenwich said:
“As London recovers from the pandemic the obvious go-to destination in London is the Royal Borough of Greenwich. With wide open spaces, a beautiful Royal Park and incredible access by river, Greenwich is a safe and wonderful place to visit as a destination and as a base for the rest of London. We are really pleased to work with our strategic partners, the Old Royal Naval College and AC Group on these incredible new bookable itineraries. The itineraries include many old favourites but also a few new surprises too which will mean visitors will be spoiled for choice.”
