English Heritage new booking portal for groups and travel trade
At English Heritage, we care for over four hundred of the country’s most amazing historic sites. From castles and country houses to prehistoric icons and one very famous battlefield, these are the places where England’s history was made.
The launch of a new group booking portal might not rank alongside the Battle of Hastings or the building of Stonehenge, but it has made organising unforgettable group visits much easier. It’s your one-stop shop for bookings, payments, amendments and cancellations. If you’ve booked with us before, email traveltrade@english-heritage.org.uk and we’ll get you set up. If not, it’s easy to register on the portal. Just head to www.english-heritage.org.uk/groups.
We’ve done everything we can to make the process as simple as possible, giving you more time to get on with delivering brilliant experiences for your groups. And speaking of which, there’s so much to see and do at English Heritage sites in almost every corner of the country.
The most iconic experience we offer is a visit to Stonehenge, where groups can explore the visitor centre exhibition, see reconstructed Neolithic houses and walk around the famous stone circle itself. This year, volunteers are building a full-scale Neolithic hall using ancient techniques, giving groups the chance to watch the process and chat with the team. If you’re after something more exclusive, the Stone Circle Experience offers the chance for groups to step inside the monument outside normal visiting hours.
Castles are a timeless draw for groups. Dover Castle, dramatically perched above the White Cliffs, offers plenty to explore, from the lavish medieval Great Tower to the secret wartime tunnels where the ‘miracle of Dunkirk’ was masterminded in 1940. Other highlights include Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire, Carisbrooke Castle on the Isle of Wight, Stokesay Castle in Shropshire and the spectacular Tintagel Castle in Cornwall, forever linked with the legend of King Arthur.
2026 marks 960 years since the Battle of Hastings, making this the perfect year to plan a visit. At Battle Abbey, groups can follow in the footsteps of William the Conqueror as they trace the dramatic story of 1066 and the epic battle itself.
English Heritage also cares for remarkable historic houses and picturesque ruins. At Osborne, Queen Victoria’s beloved seaside retreat on the Isle of Wight, groups can explore the royal apartments and beautiful gardens. Groups also love Audley End and Gardens in Essex, Eltham Palace in London and Wrest Park in Bedfordshire. Meanwhile, the dramatic ruins of Whitby Abbey on the Yorkshire coast, the site of St Augustine’s Abbey in Canterbury, and the evocative remains of Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island offer unforgettable settings rich in stories and atmosphere.
Many of our sites offer coach parking and group-friendly catering, helping you plan smooth and memorable days out. And all offer a fantastic 10% discount for groups of 15 or more.
