Lost and Found Easter Family Fun at London Transport Museum

Discover the wonderful and weird world of London Transport’s Lost Property Office this Easter at London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. Between Saturday 2 April and Monday 18 April, visitors can follow a trail around the museum’s galleries to discover fun facts about objects past and present that have been lost and found on London’s Tube trains and buses.

Since the Lost Property Office first opened in 1933 it has become home to more than 15 million objects, from everyday hats, bags and toys to the unusual and extraordinary. Join children’s authors Emily Rand and Kate Wilkinson on selected dates as they read from their books inspired by these lost mementos. Get creative with Emily Rand as you make your own piece of lost property and get curious with Kate Wilkinson as you join her in search of a mysterious missing box.

Follow a family-friendly Lost and Found trail around the Museum’s to discover the wonderful and weird world of London Transport’s Lost Property Office. Best for families with children 3 to 12 years old.

Meet Emily Rand, author of The Lost Property Office

Listen in as Emily Rand reads from her book The Lost Property Office, and then get creative to collage your own lost object and add it into Emily’s Lost Property Office installation. Best for families with children from 4 to 7 years old

• Every day from Monday 4 to Wednesday 6 April.
• Sessions at 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.30, 15.30 (approximately 30 minutes).

Meet Kate Wilkinson, author of Edie and the Box of Flits

All aboard to meet author Kate Wilkinson and learn the secrets of the Lost Property Office as she reads from her book Edie and the Box of Flits. Discover how Edie gets tangled up in an adventure involving spooky ghost stations, a maze of underground tunnels and a whole world just out of sight. Best for families with children from 7 to 12 years old

• Every day from Saturday 9 to Tuesday 12 April
• Sessions at 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.30, 15.30 (approximately 30 minutes)

SEND Early Explorer Morning, Saturday 9 April, 8:30-10:00

Families can explore the Museum at a quieter time, free from the general public. Many of the gallery sounds are switched off, making the Museum a peaceful place to be. Children can explore the All Aboard family galleries, join author Kate Wilkinson to listen to a story about a box lost on the Underground and get hands on with genuine parts of transport history through an Object Handling trolley.
