TIMEWALK: London’s spectacular new immersive journey through ancient civilisations is now open

From Göbeklitepe to Babylon, Ancient Egypt, the Maya and Rapa Nui, step into history as if you were truly there.

London’s newest immersive cultural experience, TIMEWALK, is now open at Immerse LDN at Excel Waterfront, inviting visitors to journey through 12,000 years of human civilisation in a spectacular multi-sensory adventure.

Created by the award-winning experience specialists DEM Museums, TIMEWALK reimagines the museum experience, transporting visitors through some of history’s greatest ancient civilisations using breathtaking visuals, cutting-edge technology, immersive sound and cinematic storytelling.

Rather than viewing history from behind glass, visitors walk through extraordinary ancient worlds recreated at full scale, where cities awaken around them, temples glow beneath the stars, monuments tower overhead and everyday life unfolds in vivid detail.

The experience begins at Göbeklitepe, widely recognised as one of humanity’s earliest communal gathering places and among the world’s oldest known monumental sites, before taking visitors on a journey through the legendary worlds of Babylon, Ancient Egypt, the Maya and Rapa Nui.

From sailing the Nile at sunset and walking through the ancient gates of Babylon to standing among the Moai of Rapa Nui and discovering the Maya’s extraordinary understanding of mathematics and astronomy, TIMEWALK brings the people, beliefs and achievements of these remarkable civilisations to life.

Grounded in archaeological research and enhanced through cutting-edge technology, the experience combines spectacular visual effects, powerful soundscapes and spellbinding narration to create an emotional connection with humanity’s shared past. A 25-language audio guide further enhances the experience, making TIMEWALK accessible to visitors from around the world.

TIMEWALK has been created by DEM Museums, the internationally recognised team behind the globally awarded Hagia Sophia History & Experience Museum and Ephesus Experience Museum. The London opening marks another milestone in the company’s mission to bring cultural heritage to life through immersive storytelling.

Eda Bildiricioglu, CEO of DEM Museums, said: The core ambition of DEM Museums is to redefine how people experience history. To date, we have welcomed over 10 million visitors to our destinations globally and we’re excited to begin our story in the UK with the opening of TIMEWALK. This is the culmination of several years of development with a team of over 250 people, from historians and writers to architects, designers and technology specialists. DEM Museums is forging a new path in technology-driven cultural storytelling and TIMEWALK promises a brand-new experience for audiences, by physically stepping foot into the past and seeing 12,000 years of human civilisation unfold and develop around them.

TIMEWALK joins the growing line-up at Immerse LDN, London’s largest next-generation entertainment and culture district, which has welcomed more than 1.7 million visitors to date. The experience offers Londoners and visitors alike the opportunity to explore some of the world’s most influential civilisations in an unforgettable immersive format.

Historian Laurence Blair said: “What TIMEWALK does is replace the mystery with understanding. You descend into a cenote, a sacred underground pool. You move through the roar and colour of a ceremonial plaza, past traders, farmers, warriors, nobles. You climb temple steps inscribed with the glyphs of warrior-kings and queens. You feel it: not a ruin, but a living city at its height.”

Located at Immerse LDN on the Excel London Waterfront, TIMEWALK is easily accessible by Elizabeth line, DLR, London Underground, bus and car, just 12 minutes from Central London.

General admission tickets start from £28.50, with children’s tickets from £22.70.
