National Space Centre Launches Summer Film Club with Dinosaur-Themed Cinema Experience
Families invited to watch prehistoric favourites beneath the stars of the UK’s largest planetarium this August
The National Space Centre is inviting families to step back in time this summer with a special series of dinosaur-themed cinema screenings taking place inside the UK’s largest planetarium.
The Summer Film Club will transform the Leicester attraction’s iconic planetarium into an immersive giant-screen cinema experience, with three Sunday morning screenings throughout August featuring some of the most-loved dinosaur films of all time.
Visitors can add a film screening to their National Space Centre admission, creating a full day of discovery combining space exploration, science and prehistoric adventure.
The Summer Film Club line-up includes:
Sunday 2 August – Jurassic Park
Sunday 9 August – Dinosaur
Sunday 16 August – The Land Before Time
Before taking their seats, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the National Space Centre’s Welcome Hall, home to an internationally significant collection of spaceflight artefacts, including Matt Damon’s spacesuit from The Martian, Buzz Aldrin’s Apollo mission undersuit and Tim Peake’s Soyuz spacesuit.
The prehistoric experience continues with a special dinosaur encounter, where guests can come face-to-face with a group of Velociraptors safely contained within a secure enclosure.
The National Space Centre Café will also be open before each screening, offering a selection of themed refreshments and snacks. Located beneath the attraction’s iconic Rocket Tower, visitors can enjoy food and drinks surrounded by full-sized rockets before settling in for the morning’s film.
From the adventure of Jurassic Park to the emotional journey of The Land Before Time, the Summer Film Club offers families a unique opportunity to enjoy classic cinema in one of the UK’s most distinctive venues.
