British Tourism & Travel Show 2025: Final call for speakers announced

The British Tourism & Travel Show (BTTS), a cornerstone event for the group travel industry, is inviting applications for speakers at the next edition, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 19-20 March 2025. This open call, which closes on 11 December, marks the first time in the event’s history that the seminar programme has been opened, offering the community a unique opportunity to share their insights and shape the future of group travel.

A Ground-breaking Opportunity for Industry Collaboration

BTTS has long been recognised as a vital platform for the group travel sector, bringing together over 2,000 group travel professionals, 200 exhibitors, and countless opportunities to learn, connect, and collaborate. The show plays a central role in driving the industry forward by facilitating the exchange of ideas, opportunities, and knowledge.

This year’s open call for speakers responds to popular demand, creating a platform for new voices, fresh perspectives, and diverse expertise. The initiative recognises the collective contributions of industry members, whose collaboration underpins the success of the sector.

Inspiring the Industry to Grow Together

Each segment of the group travel industry has unique expertise to share. Group travel organisers and tour planners bring hands-on insights into itinerary planning, customer preferences, and operational strategies. Destinations and attractions showcase innovative ways to create memorable experiences that inspire and engage visitors. Accommodation providers share expertise in hosting group travellers and tailoring services to meet their needs. Suppliers and trade bodies offer critical knowledge of trends, industry standards, regulations, and opportunities for collaboration. Together, these perspectives lay the foundation for meaningful discussions.

Event manager Lloyd Jones comments: “This marks an exciting new chapter for BTTS. For the first time, we are inviting the entire industry to take to the stage and share their expertise. Whether it’s a practical solution to an operational challenge or a fresh idea to inspire group itineraries, we believe every professional has something valuable to contribute. These conversations will not only tackle the challenges we face but also spark new opportunities and help shape the future of group travel.”

Why Apply to Speak?

Participating in the BTTS seminar programme offers the chance to:

  • Share knowledge and inspire peers within the group travel community.
  • Highlight practical solutions and innovations that benefit the wider industry.
  • Address the challenges and opportunities shaping group travel today.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the sector.

About the Seminar Programme

The programme is open to industry members of all backgrounds, whether they bring years of experience or fresh perspectives. Proposals are invited in a variety of formats, including keynote presentations, panel discussions, lightning talks, case studies, and interviews.

Key Themes

Proposals should inspire progress, address practical challenges, offer actionable solutions, or provide insights that drive innovation in group travel. Key themes include:

  • Looking Ahead: Trends and the future of group travel.
  • Reaching the Right Audience: Marketing strategies and audience engagement.
  • Unique and Themed Travel Experiences: Fresh ideas for standout group tours.
  • Sustainability in Tourism: Eco-friendly practices and green initiatives.
  • Collaborations and Partnerships: Strategies for delivering exceptional group travel experiences.
  • Operational Challenges: Practical solutions for planning, pricing, logistics, and compliance.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Ensuring travel experiences are accessible to all.
  • Technology in Travel: Exploring digital innovations and solutions.

The organisers also welcome suggestions for seminar topics or themes from those who may not wish to speak but want to ensure the programme reflects the needs of the industry.

Presentations must focus on sharing insights, best practices, and expertise, rather than promoting individual businesses or services. For example, a hotelier might discuss strategies for securing the best group rates rather than marketing their own property. Overly commercial applications will not be accepted.

How to Apply

All speaker proposals will be reviewed by a panel of industry professionals, with feedback and invitations provided by 18 December 2024. Interested applicants can find more information and apply at tourismshow.co.uk/keynote-theatre/request-to-speak.

This inaugural open call for speakers represents a milestone for BTTS, reinforcing its role as a hub for collaboration, inspiration, and knowledge-sharing in group travel.
