London Transport Museum is now offering an exclusive full-day experience for groups of up to 40 people at its Museum Depot in Acton, west London. This working museum store houses over 320,000 weird and wonderful objects from London’s transport past.
The new full-day itinerary includes two guided tours – an Art and Poster store tour and Depot Discovery tour, giving visitors a unique opportunity to get up close to a huge variety of these amazing artefacts and take a deep dive into the stories they tell about the evolution of London’s world-famous transport system. Half-day bookings for groups for one choice of tour only are also available.
Depot Discovery Tour
Duration: 2hours
See highlights from London Transport Museum’s collection, including historic London buses, trams and Tube cars. Discover the story of London’s public transport from its horse-drawn beginnings, taking in rare and unusual vehicles along the way, as well as pioneering engineering equipment, and the Museum’s vast collection of transport signs.

Art and Poster Tour
Duration: 90 minutes
Discover London Transport Museum’s world-class collection of transport posters and rarely seen artworks with an expert guide. See original works of world-famous artists such as Man Ray, Edward McKnight Kauffer and Laura Knight up close and learn about London Transport’s pioneering poster commissioning process in the 1900s.

About London Transport Museum’s Depot
Rarely open to the public, the Museum Depot in Acton, west London, houses the majority of London Transport Museum’s amazing collection over 320,000 objects not currently on display in the Covent Garden Museum. At the Depot visitors can see historic Tubes and buses, beautiful vintage transport posters, station signs, models, maps and more – such as early plans for the Underground and original versions of Harry Beck’s iconic diagrammatic Tube map from 1933. Together, these form one of the most comprehensive and important records of urban transport anywhere in the world.
Group discounts at London Transport Museum
At the award-winning London Transport Museum in Covent Garden visitors can see works by world renowned graphic artists up close in the How to Make a Poster exhibition in the Museum’s Global Poster Gallery. Running until autumn 2025, the exhibition showcases stunning examples of commercial poster design that have graced London’s transport network since 1900.
Adult groups can peruse the exhibition as part of their visit to the Museum. Groups of ten or more people can get 10% off and are charged at the off-peak rate.
