London Transport Museum announce new location, the return of Moorgate and that
children are now welcome on its Hidden London tours
- NEW: London Transport Museum has unveiled a new Hidden London tour, Dover Street: Alight here for Green Park, which will begin in January 2025
- The tour will take visitors to secret parts of Green Park Tube station, including former passenger corridors complete with vintage tiles and signs, and into the expansive ventilation system which overlooks the Jubilee and Victoria line platforms and trains
- Popular tour Moorgate: Metropolitan Maze, which last ran over a year ago, will also restart in January 2025
- For the first time ever, it will also take visitors into the station’s ‘Catacombs’ section, to walk alongside the disused tracks located directly underneath The Barbican Estate
- NEW: Starting from today, all in-person Hidden London tours are available to children aged 10 and over – changing from a previous age restriction of 14+
- Hidden London tours are exclusive guided tours run by London Transport Museum that take guests to disused stations, closed platforms and other secret areas of the Underground network to explore the city’s history
- Tours run all year round, Wednesday to Sunday

London Transport Museum is launching a brand-new behind the scenes tour of Green Park station, Dover Street: Alight here for Green Park, with tickets available to book now.
Named after Dover Street – the former name for Green Park Tube station, before it was renamed in 1933 – the tour will explore the station’s fascinating story, complete with tales of wartime intrigue.
Visitors will be taken deep underground to explore the former passageways and lift landings of the original 1906 station, complete with vintage signs and tiles that were last seen by the travelling public in the 1930s.
They will also hear how Dover Street played a pivotal role during the Second World War, serving as a meeting place for the London Transport Executive Board during air raids and helping ensure that the Underground’s operations continued to run. They will discover where Lord Ashfield, then chairman of the London Passenger Transport Board, had his bedroom secretly fitted at the heart of the station.
Finally, they will hear about the evolution of the Underground network as Green Park expanded to accommodate two post-war lines, the Victoria and Jubilee lines, before enjoying the unique opportunity to peer down on Tube trains through secret ventilation shafts and corridors.

Moorgate: Metropolitan Maze Returns
Popular Hidden London tour Moorgate: Metropolitan Maze, which last ran over a year ago, will restart in January 2025.
This guided tour takes visitors into the maze of disused tunnels and abandoned tracks that were left behind by almost 160 years of re-designs and upgrades to Moorgate Tube station, with exclusive access to areas of the station that are closed-off to the public.
Visitors can explore corridors that have been hidden from public view for decades, including the original passageways of the City and South London Railway which are still lined with Victorian glass tiles from 1900 and vintage signs.
For the first time ever, visitors will also be able to step into the Moorgate ‘Catacombs’ section, which is located directly underneath The Barbican Estate.
They will walk alongside parts of the disused railway tracks of the City Widened Line, where they will hear about the redevelopments that took place in the area during the second half of the 20th century.
Tours for Moorgate: Metropolitan Maze will restart on 08 January 2025, with prices starting from £42.

Children aged 10 and over now welcome on all tours
Starting today and for the first time ever, children aged 10 and over can also join all Hidden London in-person tours. Tours were previously restricted to visitors aged 14 and over, making this the first time that tours are open to families with younger children. Children will be entitled to concession prices.
Ideal for families is the newly revamped tour Clapham South: Subterranean Shelter, which takes visitors back in time in one of the eight deep-level shelters built in London during the Second World War.
Opened in 1944, this secret underground maze was designed to protect over 8,000 people and features canteens, medical stations, and sleeping quarters—all hidden beneath the streets of London.
Led by expert guides, including one portraying a 1940s warden, this tour explores meticulously recreated spaces such as the warden’s booth and canteen, based on historical photographs and extensive archival research.
Families can handle authentic wartime artefacts sourced by the Museum’s experts, discover what an Anderson shelter looked like, and experience sitting on the bunk beds turned benches that families would use during air raids.

Baker Street: The World’s First Underground
Embark on a historical journey at one of the oldest underground railway stations in the world. Hear what the very first Victorian passengers thought of underground travel and explore closed-off parts of the station including original platforms and corridors that lay hidden in plain sight – some of which last accessed by the public over 75 years ago.

Piccadilly Circus: The Heart of London
