Visit Leicester maps out the best of Leicestershire’s food and drink with new Taste The Place adventure trails

Five new printed maps and trails have been launched to help adventurous foodies find the best food and drink places in Leicestershire’s districts. The new ‘Taste The Place Taste Adventure’ maps provide visitors and residents with handy guides to explore the diverse Leicestershire food and drink offering by trying out some of the best cafes, restaurants, farm shops and producers that Leicestershire has to offer.

The trails cover Blaby, Hinckley and Bosworth, Melton, North West Leicestershire and Oadby and Wigston. They have been produced in conjunction with the respective district and borough councils.

The Taste The Place campaign puts a spotlight on Leicester and Leicestershire as one of the leading culinary destinations in the UK and features a wide range of eateries, producers and food and drink making experiences.

The trails can be downloaded from the Visit Leicester website or printed copies can be collected from the Visit Leicester Information Centre at the King Richard III Visitor Centre, 4a St Martins, Leicester LE1 5DB. Harborough has also created a digital Taste The Place map on their website at visitharborough.com/taste-the-place-map

Taste The Place has been developed by Visit Leicester, the Local Visitor Economy Partnership for Leicester and Leicestershire, which has responsibility to promote the city and county to grow the tourism economy and support businesses in the sector.

Rebecca Henson, Head of the Growth Service at Leicestershire County Council, said: “Leicestershire is the perfect destination for food fans. Whether you want to sample world-renowned cheese, craft ale or curry, the county offers a smorgasbord of treats. Sampling Leicestershire’s best produce has never been simpler with this handy guide, and I’d urge people to add the trails to their summer plans.”

Edd de Coverly, District & Borough Council representative on the Place Marketing Co-ordination Board commented: “The richness and diversity of the food and drink offer across our local market towns and villages is incredible, and these guides provide a brilliant opportunity to explore our great places, whilst enjoying some fantastic food and drink along the way.”
