Celebrating Christmas with Strawberry Field in partnership with St George’s Hall Charitable Trust

26th November 2023, 16:00

Raising funds together for families and young people across Liverpool.

The Salvation Army’s Strawberry Field collaborates with St George’s Hall Charitable Trust to bring their ever popular Celebrating Christmas event to the iconic Great Hall of St George’s Hall.

Their festive carol concert will feature music from the Liverpool Walton Band of The Salvation Army. It will also include music from singer, Asa Murphy and Charlie Green (who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2008), while the evening will be compered by BBC Radio Merseyside’s, Paul Beesley.

All proceeds from the concert will be split across the two charities to help with their ongoing work to support families and young people across the Liverpool City Region.

As well as seasonal classics, the concert will also include a host of special guests, carols, and readings that celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

The Salvation Army’s Strawberry Field is located in Woolton at the iconic site which was immortalised by John Lennon in The Beatles’ hit, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’. Previously a children’s home where the young John Lennon played in the grounds, Strawberry Field is now home to a visitor exhibition, cafe, shop and gardens. Through archival footage, photographs, timelines and specialist media guides, visitors to Strawberry Field can experience where John Lennon played and what happened behind the famous red gates.

St George’s Hall Charitable Trust is an independent board, who dedicate their own time to protect, preserve and enhance our Grade I listed building. The Trustees raise funds through various events and campaigns to support the conservation and restoration of St George’s Hall. Their latest mission is to create and install a statue of health pioneer, Mary Seacole, in the Great Hall and through this, provide education and opportunities to young people across the Liverpool City Region.

“I truly believe this is a wonderful and important project.”

Peter Hooton, Chair of the Beatles Legacy Group
