PANTO TIME FOR GROUPS!
It’s that time of year again and we have two family pantomimes which are ideal for all ages.

Missing being the usual Dame, Clive Rowe, is the director at this year’s pantomime. He gives us a lively Cinderella, with Kat B and George Heyworth as the two ugly sisters, Flatula and Nausea.

It follows the usual Cinderella story to a large extent, but with a distinct emphasis on a feminist Cinders (Siobhan James). The stepmother played by Alexandra Waite Roberts almost steals the show in her flamboyant costumes, exotic makeup and her rousing singing voice. The costumes are absolutely fantastic and lighting and simple scenery give us a delightful pantomime.
There are two versions of JACK AND THE BEANSTALK*** at the Kings Head theatre in Islington, London (until 4 January 2026). I saw the family version which is without the sexy adult innuendos. It’s a well told simple story, nicely acted and competently performed.

There is lots of audience participation and much slapstick on the stage. An unusual Dame is the cis gender, female drag artist, Victoria Scone, who, enthusiastically dancers sings and generally throws herself around in a variety of exotic costumes. There were many very small children in the audience when I was there and everyone was laughing and really enjoying the very simple staging and minimal choreography.
