A WINTER THEATRE TRIP-Pinocchio at The Globe
Pinocchio at The Globe – pic: Johan Persson
PINOCCHIO**** at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is rather unusual to recommend for a winter outing. The Globe is a reconstruction of the original Globe Theatre. It is an outdoors venue. Well, the actors are mainly under a roof, and part of the audience is able to sit in covered seats, but it is all outside and open to whatever weather is present. When I went, it was pouring with rain and the groundlings – those who stand in the well of the auditorium- had rain pouring down on them. I was in a box and although it was cold, it wasn’t wet! I had many layers on and, surprisingly, it wasn’t that chilly.
But the show is what we came for and Pinocchio is truly worth seeing. It’s a family musical telling the story of the puppeteer who makes a little boy puppet. His adventures are shown on the stage.
A picturesque setting and masterly puppetry along with lively performances from all the actors make this one to catch before it finishes in early January 2026. Pinocchio wiki return to the Globe for the festive season 2026 so get ready to book your Groups in!
