Join us for an enjoyable day exploring some of north Essex’s unique visitor attractions, with guided tours, refreshments and lunch included.
Itinerary
Meeting point: Beth Chatto’s Gardens, Clacton Road, Elmstead Market, Colchester CO7 7DB.
- 09:45 – Coach pick-up for the onward journey to Harwich.
- 10:30 – Refreshments at Deck 1853 on Ha’penny Pier, Harwich, followed by a historic guided walk with the Harwich Society. The walk includes the Electric Palace, the Kindertransport Memorial and the Treadwheel Crane.
- 12:30 – Return to Beth Chatto’s Gardens for lunch, followed by a guided tour of this world-renowned attraction.
- 15:30 – End of tour, with an opportunity to browse the plant nursery.
Beth Chatto’s Gardens
Created by acclaimed plantswoman and author Beth Chatto OBE, the gardens showcase her pioneering principle of “the right plant in the right place”, offering a striking and sustainable example of gardening in harmony with nature. Renowned for their year-round seasonal interest, the gardens are a must-see Essex destination for gardeners and visitors alike.
