Visit Essex would like to invite you to the next group travel organizers’ familiarization trip taking place on Tuesday 24th September. Saffron Walden is a delightful medieval market town with a rich heritage of old buildings. Their popular market days have been taking place in the town since 1141.

9.15am: Optional pick up from Marks Tey Railway Station
On route to Audley End drive through the quaint villages of Great Dunmow (home to the Flitch Trails) and Thaxted, with buildings dating from 14th century and the 15th century Guildhall.
10.15am: Parking at Audley End Miniature Railway – CB11 4JL and coach pick up
10.30am – 11.30am: Begin the day with a tour of Audley End House and Gardens
Explore the impressive house and uncover the story behind Braybooke’s natural history collection.
Discover life above and below the stairs in a Victorian country house. Walk around the award-winning gardens and Capability Brown parkland. There is no tour guide, staff are around to answer questions.
12pm: Lunch at the Town Hall in Market Square
Built in 1761 a Grade II listed building.
1pm: Bridge End Gardens
A short walk to Bridge End Gardens. Bridge End Gardens is a group of linked ornamental gardens. The gardens are listed Grade II* on the Register of Parks and Gardens.
2.15pm: Saffron Walden Museum
The museum is one of the oldest purpose built museums in the UK. With rich and varied collections including natural history, ancient Egypt and Greece, archaeology, local history, ceramics and glass, furniture, woodwork and textiles.
3 – 3.45pm: Free time in Saffron Walden
4pm: Arrive back at Audley End Miniature Railway
Approx 4.45pm: Drop off at Marks Tey Railway Station.
